Teriparatide: effects on cortical bone microstructure

Teriparatide (TPTD) reduces the vertebral and nonvertebral fracture risk. TPTD increases bone formation and improves the cancellous bone microstructure which is an important determinant of the mechanical integrity of vertebrae.
